About

Welcome to the Yarn Sherpa Blog. I am Cynthia O'Donnell, lifelong yarncrafter and founder of Yarn Sherpa. I built Yarn Sherpa because I am fascinated with all of the yarns available online. However, as I found more and more of the wonderful yarn vendors, I became frustrated that I couldn't easily compare yarns before buying. I decided that I should build Yarn Sherpa, a yarn comparison website, to help yarncrafters easily find and compare yarns.

The only problem was that I didn't know anything about computer programming. So I learned about web development and data analysis, among other things, in order to build the website. Now, I am proud to say that Yarn Sherpa is live! I will continue to work to add more features and more yarns. Ideally, Yarn Sherpa would feature every yarn for sale online, but there are several issues preventing that right now.

Copyright

All of the images on Yarn Sherpa have been authorized by the copyright holder.

Before I became a stay at home mom, I was an attorney - so adherance to laws is very important to me. Now that I run a website which largely displays other people's images, I know it is important to be upfront about my authority to show those images.

Yarn Sherpa has been authorized to display all of the yarns that are on the website. I will not infringe anyone's copyright in order to show yarns, no matter how great the yarn is. Unfortunately, this policy slows down the development process. When I find a new yarn for sale, I will contact the seller and ask if I may display the image with a link to purchase it on their site. So far, the sellers have been happy to allow this, but I leave it entirely to them.

Affiliate Links

Yarn Sherpa and its blog use affiliate links for most yarns and products. While not every product link is an affiliate link and it is not a prerequisite to being featured on Yarn Sherpa or its blog, it would be safe to assume that any link on Yarn Sherpa is an affiliate link. If you wish, you can clear affiliate link cookies by clearing out your browser cookies.

Feedback

Yarn Sherpa is a site meant to help you find great yarns quickly and effectively across various brands and websites. I want to know how I can make the site better. Especially regarding:

  • Is any part of the site not working?
  • Is any part of the site confusing?
  • Which yarn lines should I be sure to add to the site?

If you have any thoughts, feel free to send me an email or DM me on Twitter.I look forward to hearing from other yarncrafters. Let's make Yarn Sherpa great!
